Did you know that the #1 consultation request we get is… “Help getting started”?

If you are wondering where to start too, why not start your ministry using the same strategy that Jesus used when starting his ministry? Jesus used a specific strategy to start and spread his influence and ministry. He used a 2×2 strategy. He sent out his followers in pairs. We see this in two specific New Testament passages.

“He was amazed because they had no faith. Jesus went around teaching from village to village. He called the 12 disciples to him. Then he began to send them out two by two. He gave them authority to drive out evil spirits.” Mark 6:6-7

And…

“After this the Lord appointed 72 others. He sent them out two by two ahead of him. They went to every town and place where he was about to go.”  Luke 10:1

Obviously, things were a bit different back in the days of Jesus. Jesus wasn’t starting a specialized ministry (disability ministry) within the religious institutions of his day (Jewish Synagogues or Temples). Regardless of that, I think some of the same principles apply.

Jesus was empowering his followers and setting them up for success. Jesus wanted his message to spread and he chose to use people just like you and me to share it.

Before you can expect people to come and show up at your church you must be willing to go. “Go” always precedes “come.” The people will not “come” to your church before you are willing to “go.” Know that God is sending you just as he sent his disciples and followers!

If you want to find a great starting place for your disability ministry starting by going out into your community with a trusted friend by your side. What are you going out to do? Simple. You are going out to be a blessing to your disability community no strings attached. The specifics of that will look different in each community but the intent is always the same. Take and spread the love of Jesus, a blessing, to your disability community.
