The 10 Commandments of Disability Ministry

  1. Thou shalt not see disability as a problem to fix.
People with disabilities are not projects. They are people made in the image of God.
  2. Thou shalt treat every individual as fully human and fully valuable.
Dignity is non-negotiable. Worth is not based on ability.
  3. Thou shalt listen before leading.
Ask, “How can we serve you best?”—not “Here’s what we think you need.”
  4. Thou shalt prioritize access in every part of church life.
If they can’t get into the building, it’s not a welcome, it’s a wall.
  5. Thou shalt not segregate.
Inclusion is the goal. Separate only when it serves the individual, not the system.
  6. Thou shalt recruit people with disabilities to serve.
Disability doesn’t disqualify someone from ministry, it often enhances it.
  7. Thou shalt provide training for all volunteers and staff.
Awareness and preparation are acts of love, not optional extras.
  8. Thou shalt celebrate every step of spiritual growth.
Milestones look different to everyone. Heaven rejoices either way.
  9. Thou shalt remember that parents and caregivers need care too.
A ministered-to caregiver is a stronger, more hopeful caregiver.
  10. Thou shalt do all things in love—not out of obligation, but obedience.
Disability ministry isn’t charity—it’s the Church being the Church.

Because Jesus' table is accessible for everyone...

We desire to see the Church make room for all people affected by disability. To fully participate. To fully partner. To fully lead.

We exist to equip and empower the 25% of the population with a disability, their families, and their churches to become who God has created them to be.
